About this course
The first ever Nicklaus design course in South Asia, Classic Golf Resort is a wholly owned subsidiary of ITC Limited one of India’s leading corporates. The golf course comprises of 27 holes of 3 nines each, (The Ridge, The Valley and The Canyon), which bear witness to the Master’s virtuosity & golfing skills. The Resort has been built on a 300 acre expanse, at the foothills of the picturesque Aravallis, about an hour and a half from Delhi & a pleasant 40 min drive from central Gurgaon.
The course is a wonderful design that tests different aspects of your game – with long & short holes, undulating greens, plenty of bunkers and strategically positioned water bodies. Its a thinking course as you do not need a driver off the tee on every Par 4 for example. Some Pin positions especially the front ones need to be played with caution as the greens are often very narrow at the front with bunkers guarding the approach. Lines look easy on the greens but once you putt you do realise that the subtle variations in contours & shape can play havoc on your putting stats. This course should appeal to golfers of differing abilities. Its a cart course with caddies available and can also be enjoyed as a walking course as the changes in elevation are not significant.
The course is broken down into:
1) The 9 Hole Ridge Course – 3541 yards
2) The 9 hole Valley course -3573 yards
3) The 9 hole canyon course – 3135 yards
The Ridge & the Valley course together form the 18 hole, Par 72, 7114 yard championship course which is the regular 18 hole course. There are 4 water bodies which come into play on seven holes on the three nines & close to a 100 bunkers. This is a members club. The Golf Sanctuary stands on the periphery of the Valley course & offers furnished tented accommodation with all the requisite facilities of comfortable living ; yet giving you the experience and thrill of living in the wilderness.
The course also has a abundance of green cover & peacocks – the two of them combine to provide a spectacular setting for a round of golf with the gently undulating hills of the Aravalli range for a backdrop. The property is now getting a luxury hotel & will soon becoming a hub for conferencing & stay /play golf. Currently walk ins are encouraged & you can expect that to continue for a few years at least. The course also has a world class clubhouse with excellent locker room facilities. The pro shop is well stocked & will cater to your golfing needs.
